Right-Wingers Move to Provoke Early Elections in Bulgaria

Bulgaria's most influential rightist opposition party starts consultations to provoke early elections. The rightist Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) will seek the support of other opposition parties to hammer out a wide-reaching accord. Such a political deal would eventually force down the incumbent government, the right-wingers hope.

UDF starts talks with their partners from the parliamentary coalition United Democratic Forces, the Democratic Party and the Bulgarian Agrarian People's Union. The party will seek to negotiate a possible date for early elections.

It will also propose to all political forces that hold seats in the Parliament to sign an agreement outlining the priorities of the nation over the coming years. UDF will insist that all political parties unite to keep the financial stability of the country, to fight organized crime and to carry out the judicial reform and decentralization of local governance.
