International channel for traffic in humans from the Middle East through Bulgaria was busted during an operation of police officers from Bulgarian towns of Vidin and Montana on the Danube River.

Twenty-one foreigners from Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia were held June 14 while trying to illegally cross Bulgaria's state border.

Police officers have detained five Bulgarians in connection to the traffic channel. Four of the detained have criminal records.

The groups of immigrants gathered in Sofia and were then transported to Montana and Vidin. They crossed Bulgaria's border with Serbia and Montenegro near Kulata border checkpoint. Each foreigner had to pay USD 400 to his guides.
