Both Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov and Macedonia's Prime Minister Branko Crvenkovski explained that the joint Bulgarian- Macedonian business forum would boost the economic cooperation between the two countries.

They also agreed that Bulgaria and Macedonia should leave behind all historical disagreements and maintain the positive trend in their bilateral relations.

The two officials met June 23 after the opening of the joint business event.

Company leaders from Bulgaria and Macedonia gathered Monday at a business forum in Bulgarian capital Sofia. The forum aims to advance business cooperation between the two countries. Participants will work for increasing the pace of trade between Bulgaria and Macedonia and analyse opportunities for foreign investments in the two countries.

Bulgarian-Macedonian 2002 trade exchange totalled USD 144 M and has gone up by 7 percent over the last ten years, Macedonia's Economy Minister Iliya Filipovski said at the opening of the joint Bulgarian- Macedonian business forum June 23.
