Thessaloniki Confirmation of Bulgaria's 2007 EU Entry "No Surprise"

Thessaloniki confirmation of Bulgaria's 2007 entry came as no surprise as the Copenhagen decisions are stable enough, Bulgaria's Euro-integration Minister Meglena Kuneva said June 22.

Kuneva added that the fact that Bulgaria would not have to wait for the new EU financial frame of the next budget period, ending 2007, is a great success for the country.

Should Bulgaria have had to wait for the drawing of the EU budget, the country might have closed the three remaining EU negotiation chapters in 2005 or 2006, she said.
