Bulgaria Bans Alternative Medicine Ads

Bulgaria banned all forms of advertisements of alternative medicine methods under Health Care Act, Parliament adopted Thursday.

People willing to treat with alternative medicines are required to have graduated secondary school and passed the exams of a special training course in anatomy with some of the Medical Academies in the country.

All candidates who do not meet the set requirements are not liable to practice alternative medicine and will not get registered.

The permits will be issued by the regional health care centers, which will also be on the watch out so that no advertisements of quack doctors are aired.

Fines ranging from BGN 2000 to BGN 5000 will be imposed in case of law violation.

The adopted regulations also provide for limiting smoking in public places. A special order will select the places where smoking will be forbidden, including the movies.
