Sofia Court Wants No-Entry Ban on Chorny Disclosed

Sofia City Court head called on Interior Minister Petkanov to revise the level of classified information of the order that expels from Bulgaria controversial businessman Michael Chorny.

At the beginning of June Sofia City Court revoked an order of the then National Security Service chief Atanas Atanassov that expels from Bulgaria Michael Chorny.

The level of classified information, set by the National Security Service, justifies the revocation of the order, which also bars Chorny's re-entry for a period of ten years.

Among other regulations, Emil Markov cites articles from the Classified Information Act and recalls that the information in the order has been circulated to the media as early as 2000.

A day earlier Vladimir Donchev, chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Interior Security, said that the court ruling is not classified.

In a separate development Bulgaria's Interior Minister Petkanov said the ministry is firm on its stand to appeal against the ruling of Sofia City Court.

The ministry is expecting the ruling of the Supreme Administrative Court and, in the words of Minister Petkanov, it is still too early to say how the ministry will proceed after that.
