INVESTMENTS LAW REMOVAL REQUIRED

Business | September 29, 2001, Saturday // 00:00

Removal of the foreign investment law was required at the First International Conference `Investment, Business and Law` by Dr. Maya Neidenowa, layer from Hamburg and one of the two organizers of the conference. The conference took place at Sheraton Sofia and is the first ever event on the issue to happen in Bulgaria. `There is no need of law which restricts, but not regulates and helps foreign investment in Bulgaria` agrees Maxim Behar of M3 Communications Group, Inc., the other organizer of the conference. More than 180 participants discussed changes of the Bulgarian legislation to the European standards, among them Speaker of the parliament Ognyan Gerdzhikov, his deputy Kameliya Kassabova, Minister of Justice Anton Stankov, Deputy minister of Economy Kaloyan Ninov. All speakers agreed the Bulgarian legislation is pretty advance, but now needs `fine tuning` during the negotiations to EU process.
