Bob Miller was Nevada Governor for ten years (1989-1999), longer than any man in the state's history. For two years before that, he was lieutenant Governor and chairman of the Nevada Commission of Tourism. A long-time friend of Bulgaria, Governor Miller is co-organizer of the annual International Conference on Tourism "Bulgaria Dream Area" (www.bulgariantourism.com). He is also a partner of Miller & Behar Strategies Limited, a company set up together with Maxim Behar, CEO of the Bulgaria-based PR corporation M3 Communication Group, Inc.
Bob Miller answered questions of Milena Dinkova, editor of novinite.com.
Q: Governor Miller, you come to Bulgaria quite often recently. Do you find any changes in the country for the past couple of years?
A: I really find positive changes in Bulgaria that happened over the last two years. I definitely think there is a significant progress in terms of business opportunities and economy growth.
Q: Recently it was announced you were invited to join the Supervisory Board of one of the largest Bulgarian Banks - Roseximbank. Was it a surprise this invitation to you?
A: The Supervisory position is actually held by Miller & Behar Strategies. I will be the official representative, but my partner Maxim Behar will attend and participate in my absence. And the position is on the parent company of the bank.
Q: What will be your contribution to the bank?
A: I will do my best to advise on investment strategies be it the bank, insurance, hotels or other investments.
Q: What kind of global strategies will be beneficial for Roseximbank?
A: Global strategies are best left to management but certainly a financially sound bank with an International reputation will benefit all investors as well as all Bulgarians.
Q: You are close to important figures from the US political elite. Is this helpful in your business?
A: I have been fortunate to meet many political figures in American life and call many my friends. Certainly I consult with them when it is appropriate.
Q: What inspired you to look for business opportunities in Bulgaria?
A: My Bulgarian partnership grew out of the respect and relationship I have developed with Mr. Maxim Behar who is my partner. I am convinced that together we offer a unique combination of contacts and skills that can be beneficial to any client.
Q: hat kind of clients do you expect to attract to Miller & Behar Strategies - the consultancy you have established together with your Bulgarian partner PR expert Maxim Behar?
A: We are interested in any client who is in environmentally sound business be they Bulgarian, American or from another country.
Q: Do you sit on the governing bodies of other companies?
A: I sit on the board of Directors of several Public and non-profit Boards in America. They include America West Airlines (8th largest in the U.S), Newmont Gold Mining Company (World's largest), Zenith Insurance, IGT (largest slot manufacturing company in the world), Wynn Resorts (presently building a USD 1.5 billion hotel in Las Vegas) and K12, which develops school curriculum. I also serve on two National charitable boards - the national Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the National Cancer Society.
