Bulgarians Become Mothers-to-Be at 30-35 Years of Age

Following the European model, Bulgarian women prefer to prove themselves as experts in a certain professional field before having children, sexologist Rumen Bostandzhiev told private national TV channel bTV.

Bulgarians tend to give birth to their first child at 30-35 years of age, which marks a striking push upwards of the average age of mothers-to-be.

In the words of Rumen Bostandzhiev this trend has emerged over the last several years.

Most Bulgarian couples want to have two children, but constrained by financial difficulties, end up with only one child.

Bulgaria's population growth is 45 600.
