The Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Nikolay Vassilev implied that the bribe for USD 2 M, asked from a ministry official, was for the deal of the Varna shipyard. Journalists asked Vassilev whether the bribe is for the shipyard and he said that the journalists` allegations seem to have headed in the right direction. He added that so far there are no proofs and promised to announce the person who asked the bribe in a couple of days. `A potential foreign investor told me on the telephone that the bribe from the Economy Ministry representative amounted to BGN 2 M instead the BGN 200,000 sum that I announced,` Economy Minister Vassilev said at a press conference он Септембер 20, commenting on the deal cancelled from a potential foreign investor. According to him, the `corruption schema` on the deal started after informal conversations with people who presented themselves as jurists of the Government.
