Bulgaria's National Health Insurance Fund launched four new health insurance programs that will provide free medicine for 15 thousand Bulgarians in 2003.

One of the programs is developed to help patients who underwent cardiac or brain surgery. It guarantees 100 percent free after-surgery care for those with cardiac implants.

Two other programs will provide 2,200 renal disorder patients with free treatment. 1,180 Bulgarians suffering from arthritis will also be provided with medicine without any compensation.

The Fund's new programs will help patients that need expensive treatment but cannot afford it.
