Bulgaria's Foreign Debt Down by EUR 2 B

Bulgaria's foreign debt has dropped by nearly EUR 2 B, or a third of the country's GDP. Bulgaria's Finance Minister Milen Velchev said that during on-line conversation with Bulgarians and foreigners interested in the ministry's work.

He added that if Bulgaria continues to develop the same way the government would not renew the stand-by agreement with the International Monetary Fund.

Current agreement of Bulgaria with the Fund ends in February 2004.
