The solicitor of arrested in Spain Vladimir Ilchev - the son of top Bulgarian lawmaker Stanimir Ilchev - has submitted to the inquest the text of the public statements made by the detainee's employer. Boss Kamen Chervenyakov has claimed Ilchev was innocent.

The MP's son works as a manager in one of the bars owned by Chervenyakov. Vladimir Ilchev was detained some ten days ago in Spain during a raid of the indigenous police. In the same operation, thirty people got arrested across the Spanish districts of Almeria, Alicante and Mursia under suspicion of pimping, prostitution, traffic in human beings and sexual exploitation of women.

The investigation against Vladimir Ilchev has not been completed yet and the Bulgarian have not been charged with any offense.

"Vladimir is as innocent as ever and nobody in no way can prove that he was involved in pimping, traffic in girls and money laundering," Chervenyakov told Bulgarian media Monday.

The employer explained that he went to Spain together with Vladimir Ilchev and a group of eight dancers on the invitation of a local businessmen. The Spaniard wanted them to see his bar and eventually start a joint business. Ilchev made the trip as Chervenyakov's interpreter since he speaks Spanish.

Commenting on reports of Spanish media that a Bulgarian whose first name was Kamen was also involved in the traffic in prostitutes but left Spain before the police raid, Chervenyakov said that the suspect's surname was Todorov. However, the man's business is completely legal, Chervenyakov argued.

Ilchev's employer left Spain with no difficulties 3 to 4 hours before the arrest of the MP's son. Chervenyakov insisted that during his entire stay in Spain Ilchev was beside him and had by no means met with other people.

Bulgarian public can be at rest because the Spanish police and investigators always carry out their activities so in a way that ensures a defendant's rights cannot be violated. This is what Spanish judge Joaquin Delgado who participated in an anti-corruption conference in Bulgaria said Thursday.
