Bulgaria's best tennis player Magdalena Maleeva pocketed over USD 31,000 as she reached the third round of the French Open.

No. 15 Magdalena Maleeva beat Evgenia Koulikovskaya 6-3, 6-2 Thursday.

In the other matches, Lindsay Davenport overcame three consecutive set points and beat Iroda Tulyaganova 7-5, 6-1 to reach the third round of Roland Garros for the first time since 1999. American Corina Morariu, playing her first tournament since being sidelined late last year by a torn rotator cuff, lost to No. 30-seeded Paola Suarez 6-1, 6-1. No. 2-seeded Kim Clijsters overperformed Marlene Weingartner 6-2, 6-2.

In men's play, No. 24 James Blake lost to big-serving Ivan Ljubicic 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4. The match - played on court 17 - was suspended after three sets Wednesday because of darkness. No. 3 Juan Carlos Ferrero, the 2002 runner-up, advanced when Nicolas Massu retired trailing 6-2, 3-0. Massu came into the match with a sprained right ankle.
