Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov goes to Germany privately to attend the benefit performance of soccer star Krassimir Balakov. The show is thrown especially for the Bulgarian player by his long-time team - German Stuttgart.

Bulgaria's Sports Minister Vassil Ivanov will also be at Balakov's side as the famous Bulgarian celebrates the end of his highly successful career. Ivanov carries a letter by Bulgaria's Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg in which the statesman praises Balakov's remarkable contribution to Bulgarian soccer, and his charity
work.

Outside his private agenda, President Parvanov will use the occasion to have a series of working meetings: with Dr Christoph E. Palmer, Minister of European Affairs of German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, with a Germany-Bulgaria friendship group based in Stuttgart, and with members of the local business community. He will also tour the headquarters of the DaimlerChrysler concern.

The 37-year-old midfielder is one of the most successful Bulgarian football players of all times and long-time captain of the national team. He was on the team that finished fourth at the 1994 World Cup Finals in the United States. He has played for Sporting Lisbon and VfB Stuttgart.
