Bulgaria to Back Sanction Lifting UN Resolution on Iraq

Bulgaria will vote in favor of a new resolution of the United Nation that is to lift the sanctions on Iraq. The news came from Bulgaria's permanent representative to the UN, Stefan Tafrov.

A vote on a US-backed plan giving the US and UK interim control of Iraq looks set to be passed by the UN Security Council on Thursday, after France, Russia and Germany gave their support.

The resolution, co-sponsored by the UK and Spain, envisages the US-led coalition running Iraq until a recognised government takes over in Baghdad - and the lifting of economic sanctions.
