US backed plan co- sponsored by Britain and Spain that will put an end nearly 13 years of U.N. sanctions on Iraq is expected to be voted by Security Council on Thursday after France, Germany and Russia said they would support the latest draft of the plan.
The resolution envisages the US-led coalition running Iraq until a recognised government takes over in Baghdad - and the lifting of economic sanctions.
At least 14 of the 15 Council members are expected to vote to adopt the resolution, with only the position of Syria - the sole Arab state represented - remaining unclear.
