The best photos of 2002, awarded by World Press Photo, are on display at the National Palace of Culture.

The event is organized at the initiative of Holland's Embassy in Bulgaria with the cooperation with the Bulgarian Union of Photographers and will be underway till June 1.

At the beginning of the year an international jury gathered in Amsterdam for the forty sixth time to award the best photos of the year. The jury selected 55 photos, grouped in seven thematic categories.

This is the second time that the World Press Photo exhibition is on display in Bulgaria.

The exhibition is an appeal for help and humanity, Ivo Hadzhimishev, chairman of the Bulgarian Union of Photographers, commented.
