Some of the most difficult situations we have to deal with are emotionally demanding. To deal with these situations you need to be aware of your own emotions and those of others and use this awareness to express how you are feeling appropriately and anticipate the needs of others.

Take a pen and paper and think back to the last time you felt really angry. Write down the feelings you experienced. This can help you to challenge the thoughts that have caused these emotions and to communicate them to others.

Emotional awareness isn't only useful in building and developing relationships - it can be incredibly useful when you're caught up in a confrontation or in a process of negotiation.
