The 57th International Technical Fair started on September 24 with an official ceremony. President Petur Stoyanov, Parliament Speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov and Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Nikolay Vassilev participated in the opening of the fair. Vassilev stressed the importance of the forum for the Bulgarian economy. He appealed to the Bulgarian businessmen to be more enterprising, to increase their profit, create jobs, pay taxes and help the government to fight corruption. `We will do everything possible for you,` Vassilev said, adding that the government and the Economy Ministry will be always open to the problems of the Bulgarian business community. On behalf of the government, Vassilev assured the foreign business representatives that Bulgaria needs their professionalism and investment. `You will find a new government with a new mentality and zero tolerance for corruption,` Vassilev said, describing the favorable conditions for foreign business in Bulgaria. Addressing the participants and the guests, the Bulgarian president opened the Fair. The countries represented by most companies among the 995 foreign participants are Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, the United States, Austria and Turkey. The fair ends on September 29. Symposia, business meetings, seminars, discussions, presentations and news conferences are also organized as part of the fair.
