15-Year-Old Boy Missing in Sofia, Police and Family Appeal for Public’s Help
The Sofia police have launched a search for 15-year-old Nikolay Petkov
A six-year-old boy is in the Razgrad hospital after being severely beaten by his stepfather.
The child was beaten a week ago in the village of Hersovo, where he lived with his mother and stepfather. The mayor reported his condition, as the boy was locked up at home so that the bruises and swelling on his body would not be noticed.
A police team and employees of "Social Care" took the mother and her son out of the risky environment. An application for protection of the child under the Domestic Violence Act was filed in court today.
"We immediately took the child with the mother. To our delight, she cooperated with us, and accordingly confirmed the act of violence. The stepfather denied any such thing. The child told us more than his mother. He told us about being kicked, punched in the head, he was thrown into the garden on the ground and lifted into the air. Things that are very worrying," explained Bulent Mehmed - director of the Social Assistance Directorate in the town of Samuil.
