Bulgarian Town Gassed with Ammonia by Romanian Plant

Bulgarian town Nikopol situated on border river Danube was gassed for the third time over the last days by the Romanian fertilizer plant in the city of Turnu Magurele on the other bank.

At about 9 o'clock on Friday, the concentration of ammonia in the air hit a peak of more than three times beyond the norm.

The ammonia cloud hovered over Nikopol from 8 am till 10 am and then dispersed.

Friday's gassing was stronger that Thursday's when the ammonia reached concentrations two and a half time beyond the norm.
