The much debated judicial reform was discussed Tuesday by Bulgaria's Justice Minister Anton Stankov and the ambassadors of the countries from the European Union.

The foreign envoys which countries press for speeded-up and deep-reaching reform of Bulgarian judiciary were briefed on the pending changes of Bulgaria's Constitution and the timetable for the amendments of the main law.

Bulgaria is currently compiling answers to inquiries of the European Union about the legal framework of the reforms, the minister said.

According to him, Bulgaria wishes to close the Justice Chapter of the pre-accession negotiations till the end of the Greek presidency of the union in mid-2003.
