Date of Powell Visit to Sofia Specified during FM US Trip

The date on which US Secretary of State Colin Powell is to visit Bulgaria will be specified during the visit of Bulgarian Foreign Minister Passy to the United States from May 6 to 9.

In the words of Foreign Ministry spokesman Lyubomir Todorov so far, there is only official information that the invitation extended to Powell has been accepted.

The news came a day after Germany's Financial Times Deutschland wrote that US Secretary of State Colin Powell is planning a visit to Sofia in the middle of May as part of a European tour.

Financial Times Deutschland cited a US expert on German affairs, in whose opinion the visit must give a sign of the willingness of the governments of the United States and Germany to overcome their differences.
