Blood Samples from Suspected Bulgarian SARS Victim Tested In Germany

Blood and other samples that were taken by the patient with SARS symptoms will be sent for tests in Germany, announced Kostadin Kostov, director of the hospital for infectious diseases in the capital Sofia.

The samples will be tested and within a few days the results will be ready.

Doctor Kostov explained that the relatives of the patient that have been in contact with him are in good health. He added that despite the expiring latency period they would remain under observation for a few more days.

The patient arrived from Toronto, Canada, on April 16 after a one-month stay. The 32-year old man came down with the symptoms on the third day following his arrival in Bulgaria. He was isolated at the hospital for infectious diseases in capital Sofia and was professionally treated for pneumonia.

Doctor Kostov added that the patient is in good health.
