N Korea Insists On US Compromise

North Korea has said that nuclear talks with the United States are pointless if Washington continues to insist Pyongyang first scraps its suspected nuclear programme. A North Korean official newspaper, Minju Joson, said that as long as the US maintained such a stand, the two sides would only waste time, "no matter how frequently they negotiate". The comment came a day after US Secretary of State Colin Powell said Washington was reviewing Pyongyang's offer to give up its nuclear programme in exchange for substantial economic concessions.
