Traditional and contemporary Korean art and culture is presented in Sofia for one month. The Korean Culture Days started a week ago with the opening of the Contemporary Korean Art Exhibition at the National Art Gallery. The exhibition, which features 12 sculptures and 31 paintings by 36 contemporary Korean artists, was co-organized by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture. The works will be displayed in the gallery until October 7. The embassy of the Republic of Korea expressed its hope that the Korean Culture Days will enhance the understanding and deepen the existing friendship between the people of Bulgaria and Korea. Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the days of culture will be the presentation and tasting of Korean cuisine. In addition to its distinctive cuisine, Korea is home to the internationally recognized sport Taekwondo. Bulgarian practitioners of Taekwondo will participate in the Korean Ambassador`s Bulgarian Taekwondo Championship on October 13 at Hristo Botev Hall. The musical side of Korean culture will be presented by a number of Korean students who study music at Sofia`s National Academy of Music. They will perform on October 15 at 7pm in the Concert Hall of the Academy. The month-long program will close with shows of Korean movies. During the Korean Culture Days in Sofia, Bulgarian National Television will show a series of documentaries about the Eastern country. The ambition of the Korean Embassy in Bulgaria the month to become an annual event and feature even more performances next year.
