EXHIBITION IN HONOR OF THE ARTIST ILIYA BESHKOV

The Bulgarian Artists` Union honors the memory of Iliya Beshkov (1901-1958) with a big exhibition. His works are shown on three floors in the gallery on 6 `Shipka` street. A panoramic view of the life and the works of Beshkov are presented. Beshkov used to be an artist, politician, philosopher, novelist and musician. The exposition includes illustrations, caricatures, drawings. Iliya Beshkov was born in Dolny Dubnik in the Pleven region. When he was 17 years old he started studying law in the Sofia University, later he became a teacher in his home village. In 1926, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Nikola Marinov. Since 1945 he taught painting in the Academy, and in 1951 became a professor in illustration.
