UNESCO Releases USD 25, 000 for Bulgarian Church Restoration

UNESCO is to release USD 25, 000 of aid for the restoration of the church "Saints 40 Martyrs" in the town of Veliko Tarnovo, which was damaged by landslides at the beginning of the year.

UNESCO will sign a contract with an official Bulgarian institution in the coming weeks, Foreign Minister Passy said while on a visit to the town of Veliko Tarnovo, Northern Bulgaria. Minister Passy also paid a visit to the church and was informed on the restoration works underway.

Over BGN 600,000 have already been earmarked for funding the different phases of the restoration works.

The minister promised that the procedure for cutting bureaucratic obstacles will be sped up in the process.
