HUNGARY SUPPORTS BULGARIA`S NATO BID

During a meeting with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy Hungary`s Defense Minister Janos Szabo and Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi supported the decisions of the Bulgarian government and the declaration of the Bulgarian Parliament in connection with the 11 September terrorist attacks in the United States, Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Elena Poptodorova said, quoted by BTA. Hungary assessed very highly Bulgaria`s readiness to act as an actual ally of the Alliance, in setting up a global coalition against terrorism, Poptodorova specified. Szabo and Martonyi voiced Hungary`s categorical and unconditional support for Bulgaria`s bid for NATO membership, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said. The two Hungarian ministers were pleased with the fact that Passy`s first visit abroad in his capacity as foreign minister, is to Hungary, said Poptodorova. Passy discussed with his hosts Hungary`s participation in infrastructure projects in Bulgaria, and in the construction of a second bridge over the Danube in particular. `Foreign Minister Solomon Passy was met in Hungary under strengthened security measures,` Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Elena Poptodorova announced. Passy is on a two - day official visit to Hungary that started on September 20. His Hungarian counterpart Janos Martonyi invited him. Passy attended a gathering organized by the Society of Bulgarians in Hungary. Foreign Ministry experts participate in the delegation, headed by the Foreign Minister Passy.
