Bulgaria's big business supported fully the initiative of Sweden's Ambassador Sten Ask and Chief Secretary with the Interior Ministry Gen. Boyko Borisov for organizing the third fundraising football match between diplomats and foreign businessmen in Bulgaria and the Interior Ministry.
The informal lunch, hosted by the Swedish Ambassador April 3, was attended by Deputy Economy Minister Dimitar Hadzhinikolov.
The third fundraising football match will be again in aid of children of law enforcement officials, who died in exercise of their official duties. It is scheduled to take place on April 17 in the Black Sea city of Varna under the patronage of Varna's mayor Kiril Yordanov.
The first fundraising football match, organized in June 2002 with the assistance of Sofia mayor Stefan Sofianski, raised over BGN 32, 000 in aid of the children.
Over BGN 40,000 of corporate donations were raised at the second fundraising football match between diplomats and foreign businessmen in Bulgaria and the Interior Ministry, which took place on October 4th in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv under the patronage of its mayor.
It is our ambition to keep the tradition alive, expand and diversify it, so that it benefits not only the children of enforcement officials and firemen, but also the officials themselves, Ambassador Ask underlined. In his words this would serve as a guarantee for the support of the Bulgarian business.
