EURO ATLANTIC REPS ARRIVED AT THE NATO EXERCISE

Representatives of the Political and Military Steering Committee of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council arrived on September 19 at the Graf Ignatievo air base near Plovdiv. The purpose of the group is to observe the organization of the ongoing multinational air force exercise Cooperative Key 2001. The guests toured the Graf Ignatievo and Krumovo bases. The Bulgarian Defense Minister Nikolai Svinarov met on September 19 the visiting Commander Allied Air Forces South lieutenant General Ronald Keys. The commander said that the exercise was very well organized. The Bulgarian, US, Romanian, Dutch, Swedish, French and other participating countries` air forces performed over 400 flights during the exercise. The operative center coordinates also the flights of planes taking off from bases in Turkey and Greece, which carry out missions within the framework of the exercise.
