Bulgaria won a prestigious victory over Serbia and Montenegro (2:1) in an international friendly Thursday.
The game of the two teams was hampered by a strong wind and uneven playing ground.
Bulgaria's Stiliyan Petrov scored first in the 14th minute. The goal was followed shortly afterwards by an equalizing goal of Kovacevic, after the Bulgarian defence made one of its few mistakes in the match.
Svetoslav Todorov's scored the match-winning goal in the 56th minute.
Bulgaria's Stiliyan Petrov, who was pronounced the best player in the match, suffered an injury and left the Bulgarian team for the last ten minutes of the match.
Bulgaria leads in European Championship qualifying group with nine points. Its next opponent on Wednesday is Estonia.
Serbia and Montenegro is second in Group 9 with five points, four points behind Wales but a point ahead of Italy.
