Bulgarians Join Balkan Protest Against Soaring Food Prices
Bulgaria has joined Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro in organizing protests against rising food prices
President Rumen Radev is expected to dissolve the 45th National Assembly today, appoint a caretaker government and announce a date for the next parliamentary elections.
This will be done with two separate decrees that the Head of State must issue.
Radev has already stressed several times that he will not slow down the procedure. It is also related to the expected first meeting of the new electoral commission. The president has already announced that he will provide at least 60 days to the new Central Electoral Commission to prepare for the snap election.
According to unofficial information, the ministers are:
Prime Minister: Stefan Yanev, former President’s Secretary of Security and Defense
Minister of Foreign Affairs: Svetlan Stoev, Ambassador to Denmark.
Interior Minister: Boyko Rashkov, former director of the National Investigative Service.
Minister of Defense: Nikolay Tsonev, who already has held this post in the government of Sergei Stanishev, or the former Representative of Bulgaria to the United Nations - Georgi Panayotov.
Minister of Finance: Assen Vassilev, who was minister of economy in the caretaker government of Marin Raykov.
Minister of Labor and Social Policy: Galab Donev,Secretary of Social Policy of the Head of State.
Minister of Economy: Kiril Petkov, Harvard graduate.
Health Minister: Prof. Stoycho Katsarov, Head of Gastroenterology Ward at Military Medical Academy.
The Justice Minister: Yanaki Stoilov from BSP.
Minister of Education: Prof. Nikolay Denkov - scientist, physicochemist, Chairman of the Ethics Committee in the Ministry, he has held the same post in the government led by Ognyan Gerdzhikov.
Minister of Agriculture: Prof. Hristo Bozukov – who held the same post in the previous cabinet.
Minister of Tourism: Assoc. Prof. Stella Baltova.
This will be the second caretaker government formed by Rumen Radev. The first he appointed literally days after taking office as head of state in early 2017. Then the caretaker Prime Minister was Ognyan Gerdzhikov.
