A program for partial restoration of the Bulgarian forests, devastated systematically in the last three years by deliberate arsons was launched by Overgas Inc. The forests need 200 years at least to be restored naturally, was emphasized at a round table discussion on the issue, initiated by Overgas. Only in 2000, 57,406 hectares were subject to arsons and turned into ashes, Nikolai Yonkov from the Forestry Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences said. Overgas Inc already launched a similar program in December, 2000 by foresting 22 decares in the Chirpan region, and 55 decars in the Hisar region.
