Bulgaria: Bulgaria: Two-Thirds of Remote Employees Don’t Want to Go Back to Office

Over 65% of people who currently work remotely want to continue working from home. A total of 58% said they would look for a new job if they had to return to the office, shows the survey by a job search quoted cited by Monitor daily.

Only 2% of the respondents said they would prefer to go back to the office, while 11% said remote work was not essential to them. A tad over a third of respondents cited as their preferred mode of working a hybrid model, which combines office and remote work,

Of those surveyed 84% said that not having to commute between office and home saves a lot of time and this is one of the biggest advantages when working from home. For 75% of respondents, in addition to saving time, it is also a serious budget saving, including for transportation costs.

At the same time, the biggest drawback of working from home is that people find it harder to switch off, work more and get tired - this is pointed out by 35% of the surveyed. About 28% mention technical problems at home as a drawback, as well as distractions like child care or home chores, access to a reliable Internet provider - 26 %, as well as fatigue from video conferences – 24 %.

The survey also found that only 24% of remote employees have a bespoke home office and 34% have created a purpose-designated workspace.

The desire to move to live elsewhere thanks to the ability to work remotely - most often in a place that is cheaper to live in - is also becoming increasingly more common for people who work from home, the survey shows.

Health and safety policies and risks for those working from home will be regulated through legislative changes.

There is a suggestion that the technical equipment should be provided by the employer and that the office supplies costs be covered by employees, but this will be negotiated with the employer organizations.

The accidents at work in a home environment will be brought under regulations through a special legislation.
