Bulgaria: Bulgaria: Movement for Rights and Freedoms Will Not Take Part in New Government, Will Support Cabinet Proposed by New Parties

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms will not support a government of the election losers - GERB and BSP, but is ready to support a cabinet of the new parties in the next parliament without participating in it, the leader of the Movement Mustafa Karadayi announced at a briefing at the party's headquarters.

"Our party has achieved a very good result in this election. MRF is the only party that garnered more votes in this election, while the other two major parties GERB and BSP lost – one over 300,000 votes and the other over 450,000 - or 20 and 37 seats in parliament respectively. The votes for MRF increased by over 20,000 and its seats by over four", Karadayi said at the beginning of the briefing.

"MRF did not lose a single seat from those it had in the previous National Assembly," he added

"We assure that we rely on the choice of our voters as on a desire for change. In MRF we started the change from ourselves. Already in the elections for MEPs, our slogan was "We bet on the young", the leader of MRF stressed in his speech and announced:

"MRF will not support a government of the losing parties - GERB and BSP. If they propose a cabinet, we won't support it. But Bulgaria must participate in the common European debate that is currently underway. Therefore, driven by the care for the people and the country, we declare that we would support a cabinet of the new parties in the new National Assembly, which has clear-cut and precise goals, without participating in it", said the leader of MRF.

MRF has no intention of setting any goals, but they can offer some important ones – such as the fight against Covid and the economic and social measures to support the population and business. Another goal may be the Recovery and ResiliencePlan, which, as we understood today, Bulgaria is not ready to present, Karadayi pointed out.
