Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria
Bulgaria has witnessed a bustling winter tourism season, with a total of 1.8 million tourists gracing its picturesque landscapes from December 1 to March 25
The oeuvres of the most eminent Bulgarian artists are offered for sale on the internet shopping platform for second-hand goods, Maritsa daily reported. The paintings have been put up for sale at online shop, offering no guarantee of authenticity or accompanying certificate.
On the online shopping site connoisseurs of art can buy an inkdrawing by Zlatyu Boyadzhiev for BGN 495, two paintings by Georgi Bozhilov-Slona at prices from BGN 2,000 and 2,500, as well as works by Dechko Uzunov, Joan Leviev, David Perez and many others. A painting by Radul Shishkov is sold for BGN 500.
A unique offer is a deluxe album of Christo and Jean-Claude, published in 1,000 copies and signed personally by the avant-garde artist. It's available for BGN 9,000. Dechko Uzunov's water-colours sell at between BGN 1,500-1,700. Oil portraits of Todor Zhivkov and Lenin cost BGN 50.
By and large the offers are nothing but a siren’s call with some exciting history of its acquisition. If you ask the dealer for a authenticity guarantee, he makes you put the cart before the horse - first to buy the painting, and then to ask for a certificate, warn those who tried to buy such works.
Experts have warned that the art market is currently teeming with copycat paintings, so buyers should be very careful not to throw their money in the wind.
