MORE SCHOOLS JOINED THE STRIKE IN RUSSE

The number of the schools that are on strike in Russe reached twenty, Info radio announced. The two oldest schools in the town `Hristo Botev` and `Baba Tonka` also joined the strike. 11 ooo pupils did not attend school. The leaders of the Russe teacher syndicates Maria Stancheva and Vesselina Krumova continue their hunger strike that started at 12 noon on September 18. They protest against the unpaid salaries to the Russe teachers from June, July and August. In the evening of September 19, a silent protest with candles was organized. 1000 citizens signed a declaration in support of the protesting teachers. The directors of the Russe schools invited the Education Minister Vladimir Atanassov to discuss the problem. The kindergardens Russe will join the strike, starting September 20.
