Bulgaria: Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Cast His Vote in Hometown of Bankya

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov exercised his right of vote in his hometown of Bankya at 78 secondary school Hristo Smirnenski.

He voted with a paper ballot.

"Thanks to everyone who was involved in the preparation of elections. They've done a tremendous job. We've secured a machine vote so that everything is transparent and fair. Nearly 50 million have been paid for the voting machines. This money could have been distributed among pensioners. These are the most expensive elections. They are likely to cost over BGN 150 million," the Prime Minister said after voting

"This day has come. Of course, it could have been a week later if it weren't for the president's stubbornness. You see the data on the newly infected –25, 20, 18% positive tests. We're close to overcoming the third wave. We have over half a million vaccinated, in a week we would be in a  much better condition", Borissov said.

"I wish everyone good luck. GERB ran the most tolerant campaign, we did not offend anyone, we received huge support from all my colleagues in Europe," he added.

He congratulated the Catholics who celebrate Easter today and reiterated that it was President Rumen Radev choice to hold the election today.

"Let's return good for evil and be positive," the prime minister concluded.
