Inflation Rises Slightly in Bulgaria, Falls Across the Eurozone
Inflation in Bulgaria recorded a slight uptick in May 2025
In the past two weeks, 395 Bulgarians who have arrived from Zanzibar (Tanzania) and Egypt have been quarantined, TravelNews reported.
People have traveled on the last charter flights returned to our country from both African countries.
Health authorities do not yet have information on the number of positive and negative coronavirus tests of all arrivals. The health ministry says that under the current order of the health minister, these citizens are subject to mandatory 10-day quarantine, which means that they are not tested for COVID-19 upon entering the country.
The most of the quarantined are in Varna - 224 people.
So far, health authorities have reported only six cases of coronavirus-infected among a total of 2,000 Bulgarians returning from Tanzania by charters before quarantine was introduced.
Bulgaria’s health and foreign ministries do not take a position on the protest note sent from Egypt for the imposed 10-day quarantine in Bulgaria for tourists returning from the country. The note states that anti-epidemic measures are valid in Egypt and the crowding of tourists in one place is controlled. The admittance capacity in the hotels and restaurants, the number of passengers on excursions, visits to sites and transfers is strictly specified.
There are no reports of Covid-19 infected after returning home from Egypt. At the same time, however, unjustifiably severe travel restrictions have been imposed on this destination. The Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents "Association Future for Tourism" insists that the regime for Bulgarians traveling to Egypt be relaxed as soon as possible and a mandatory quarantine upon their return to Bulgaria be lifted.
Tour operators have planned 45 flights to Egypt in April and May. For this reason, they insist on updating the health minister's order in view of the fact that countries such as Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco are lower risk than Bulgaria and some of the European countries. Tour operators and local hotels have planned enough preventive measures. There is already a large number of vaccinated Bulgarians who want to travel.
