Bulgaria: Serbia under Total Lockdown in Bid to Control Covid Spike

A full lockdown takes effect in Serbia from tonight, the country's prime minister, Ana Brnabich, said, as quoted by Serbian national television.

Everything except grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations will be closed. "There will be no curfew, only what is needed for a relatively normal life will work," the Serbian prime minister said at a press conference.

Brnabich added that it is necessary to further slow down life in Serbia in order to stabilize the numbers of the newly infected. She explained that the aim was to support health workers in the country, defining the lockdown decision as a compromise, as the medical staff of the Crisis Headquarters insisted that the measures should last for at least 14 days.
