SOCIALISTS DISCUSS PM`S PRESIDENT CANDIDATURE
Politics | September 18, 2001, Tuesday // 00:00
At a general meeting the Bulgarian Socialist party discussed organizational issues, the trial for the Bulgarian medics and the international situation after the terrorist assaults in the United States. After the meeting Mladen Chervenyakov said for Info Radio that the candidature of Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg was discussed. However, according to him, the Constitution is not that easy to be changed and this is a big enough obstacle for the candidature of the current Prime Minister. There is a requirement in the Constitution that the candidates for President should have stayed at least 5 years in the country before they run for the position. The Bulgarian Socialist Party would support a personality that has broad support on behalf of the Bulgarian community.
