Bulgaria: Protests in Bulgaria Escalate: Bombs, Chairs, Wheels and Pavers Against the Police, Arrests Followed Facebook

Escalation of the protest in Sofia! Clashes broke out between police and protesters in Independence Square tonight. Bombs, chairs, wheels and cobblestones flew against the uniformed men, followed by arrests. There are also wounded.

Initially, around 9:00 pm, bombs flew to the building of the former Party House, where there was a cordon of gendarmes. The uniformed men raised their shields and took up defensive positions. Several pirates literally fell between them, but there was no reaction.

At 22:00, after a new rain of pirates, bombs and bottles, the gendarmerie tried to push the crowd. Even after they were dispersed, the protesters did not stop firing at the police with literally any objects at hand, including tables, chairs, bicycles, found in the tent camp in the Triangle of Power.

According to protest organizers, about 15 people were injured. Lawyer Nikolai Hadjigenov of the Poison Trio said he had not seen who was throwing the pirates, but was sure it was not one of the protesters who went to the scene regularly. According to him, these are provocateurs.

"I have no idea who is behind this. According to the police, these are the agitators, "said lawyer Hadjigenov.

the chief secretary of the Ministry of Interior Ivaylo Ivanov explained to Nova TV that the improvised bombs were hidden in the tent camp. Ivanov expressed doubt that the organizers of the "Poison Trio" did not know about it.

At the same time, the tent camp was destroyed.

After hours of tension, police with shields marched after the protesters. Three people were arrested - one in front of the Ministry of Education and Science, two around the Archaeological Museum.

Tensions escalated during the protests during the day. More than 40 people have been arrested, some of them criminally.

And the police again called on the citizens to keep the peaceful form of the protest and not to get involved in the manifestations of aggressive behavior.

Around 20:00 there was a counter-protest on Sitnyakovo Blvd./Nova TV
