The weekend will be sunny and hot

During the weekend we will feel some of the highest temperatures this summer. On Saturday afternoon, the thermometers will show from 32 degrees in the region of Sofia to over 37 along the rivers Danube and Struma. Wind will be felt in the eastern regions with stronger gusts to the southeast. A yellow code for dangerous heat is in force almost all over the country, recommending that people who are sensitive to heat and those with unstable health look for coolness in the afternoon.

On Sunday, temperatures will remain similar - again in the range of 32-37 degrees. On both days the clouds will be minimal.

Around the coast - hot with air temperature in the warmest part of the day on Saturday - between 25 and 28 degrees, and on Sunday - a degree above. Sea waves - relatively weak, but noticeable, with wave heights up to half a meter. It will intensify slightly on Sunday, but at the end of the day on Monday the waves will almost disappear, with a tendency for crystal clear water.

High temperatures create conditions for igniting forest and field fires. In the next 3-4 days the risk is especially high (extreme on the NIMH scale) in many areas in the Eastern half of the country. In the southeast, in addition to the heat, the wind will create problems, the gusts of which can make the work of firefighters extremely difficult.

The anticyclone, which protects us from rain, will remain centered in Eastern Europe for the next 3-4 days. The heat wave will last until the first days of September. Destabilization of the atmosphere is expected in the middle of next week, but this will be felt more drastically in Western Bulgaria with rain and thunderstorms Thursday-Friday. Around the Black Sea coast more significant clouds with the possibility of precipitation are expected at the end of next week around September 5-6.
