The Minister of Education Krassimir Valchev explained at a briefing how the new school year will begin and how the educational process will take place.

"With a great deal of confidence we can predict that the epidemic situation will last 10-12 months, throughout the school year. We, as parents, must find a way for the educational system to work, "Valchev said. He assured that the final models at a distance can not continue, so possible options are being sought. There are two strategies in different countries. One of them is hybrid training, but the Ministry of Education and Science has abandoned such, as it would be difficult to implement.

"We have chosen a combination of two strategies. The model is based on switching. Schools will be ready for it. It will most likely be necessary when the flu epidemics start, "the minister explained.

For now, the school year is planned to begin in person throughout the country. However, the Minister does not rule out the possibility of changes until the beginning, as the situation in the country is dynamic.

Schools will receive instructions on how to act if a student or teacher is infected with COVID-19. Directors will also have a list of mandatory rules for disinfection and distance. This list will be published on the MES website. Measures from schools will also be available.

Some schools have already announced that they will work on a schedule in which different classes start classes at different times and thus will differ in the breaks.

"There is no doubt that the year will be difficult. We have a great challenge - to protect the health of children. If we leave schools closed, we risk more negative consequences for children than those caused by the pandemic. There is also talk of a generational crisis, "said Minister Valchev.

The Minister clarified that if necessary, students will have the opportunity for additional lessons, which will be paid to teachers. Together with the trade unions it was agreed to pay BGN 15 for these additional hours./Nova TV
