Bulgaria Climbs to Fifth Place in Europe for Tourism Growth
Bulgaria ranks fifth in Europe for tourism growth, a fact highlighted by the country’s Minister of Tourism
The Albena resort complex has started the gradual closure of hotels. The reason is the declining number of tourists after charter flights were suspended and Germany declared our Northern Black Sea coast a dangerous destination.
The fact that the tourists in the complex are mainly Bulgarians and Romanians is also reflected, and the period of summer vacation preferred by them is from the middle of July to the middle.
The epidemic situation in the complex is calm, so far there are no data on infected tourists.
Due to the decline in the number of tourists and the reservations made, the gradual closure of hotels has already begun. Last week the guests of the Albena complex were 8,000, this week they are already about 6,500, said the manager of the complex Albena Hristo Penev on BNR.
They are mainly from Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. Compared to the data for August 2019, the number of vacationers in the complex is half less, and on an annual basis - for the season they outline only 30% compared to 2019.
According to Hristo Penev, so far there have been data on contact persons for the new coronavirus infection among the staff, as they have terminated their work duties, but a positive case of tourists has not been registered./Trud Newspaper
