Experts: Bulgarians Have Already Encountered a Similar Coronavirus in 2008
Many Bulgarians have encountered a virus related to COVID-19 in 2008. Due to this fact, not all people are highly exposed and susceptible to the infection. This was stated by the pulmonologist Dr. Alexander Simidchiev, who quoted a scientific publication.
He noted that people who have gone through this related virus have built-in immunity.
"According to the publication, in 2008 there was a similar virus isolated from bats in Bulgaria," he said.
The name of the virus is "CoV-2008 / Bulgaria".
According to him, it is very likely that this was the reason why the scope of the pandemic in our country is not so large.
"It’s a fact that this virus was in Bulgaria. According to all estimates, it seems that about 50% of the population has some immunity. It is likely that these are elderly people," the specialist added.
In connection with the use of vitamin C by patients with coronavirus, Dr. Simidchiev pointed out:
"Ascorbic acid has always had an effect on the circulatory system in the direction of helping blood clotting. It is clear that COVID-19 causes endothelium, which causes blood clots to form in the blood vessels. Anything that helps blood clotting can have an unpleasant effect. All coronavirus treatment protocols include anticoagulants.
The doctor also commented on the large number of newly infected people and the statistics in which our country falls.
"When there are few infected in the beginning, the percentage of increase is high. The low level in the beginning puts us in the group of countries with high growth. And there are more infected because people decided that this problem does not exist. As a result, their behavior is the same as before the pandemic, "he said. /vesti.bg
