SOFIA HOLIDAY NOTED WITH AN OFFICIAL CEREMONY

Sofia`s Municipality Council had an official meeting on the occasion of the Bulgarian capital holiday. The meeting started with one-minute silence in honor of the innocent victims in the US. A declaration against the US terrorist attacks on behalf of the municipality was voted. It will be sent to the US President Bush. The municipality officials decided to cancel some of the planned events for the holiday. 20 former and current municipal advisers were awarded with the honorary Sofia symbol. Later during the day President Petur Stoyanov, Minister without portfolio Nejdet Mollov and the Culture Minister Bozhidar Abrashev attended the official ceremony of the flags raising that started at 11.30 on September 17. Mayor Stefan Sofianski delivered a short speech in which he wished further successes to Sofia city.
