SCHOOL YEAR OPENS WITH SCHOOLS ON STRIKE

Eight schools and three kindergardens in Russe are on strike because of unpaid salaries. 4000 pupils were not let in their schools because of that. 21 other schools announced that they will join the strike in a couple of days. Education Minister Vladimir Atanassov said that he is very sorry for the children who cannot start their school year properly. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for the funding of the schools on strike, he clarified.The school year started on September 17. Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg wrote an open letter to all pupils and teachers on this occasion. In the letter he wished calm and successful school year to the teachers and pupils. `I worry for the problems of the school, in which millions of children will enter today. Teachers, the difficulties are not at all little for you. At many places, the buildings are not friendly or full with pupils because of the demographic changes. However, you need to know that the Government does everything possible to solve the problems, accumulated with the years,` the Prime Minister wrote in the letter. The road police appealed for heightened attention on behalf of the drivers during the school year.
